S2 Mid Semester Break Week 2

This week we hit a huge milestone, our prototype testing at Guide Dogs Victoria in Melbourne! We were incredibly fortunate to have seven participants from the low vision community take part, providing us with essential feedback on both the form factor and functionality of our device. Their insights are already shaping our next round of improvements.

The trip itself was also a great bonding experience for the team. The seven-hour road trip down to Melbourne gave us the perfect chance to relax, laugh, and get to know each other better outside of the usual project work.

Of course, no milestone comes without its challenges. In true deadline fashion, “the seed” (our main prototype) broke just three days before testing. We scrambled to order new electronics and tried every possible fix, but in the end we had to wait for the new components, which only arrived on the morning of testing. With just 20 minutes to spare, we soldered the board together, held our breath… and it worked! It was stressful, but we were proud to have persevered. And just in case, we also had our MVP ready as a backup.

All in all, it was a big week of testing, learning, and team spirit. We’re excited to carry this feedback forward as we continue refining “the seed” and moving closer to our final design.

Thank you for following along and supporting Project Ver, your encouragement means so much to us. If you’d like to reach out, you can email us at projectver2025@gmail.com or connect with us on our socials.
